The heart regulates the blood and houses the mind; therefore many disharmonies of the heart are associated with the blood and mind. The mind requires blood for nourishment and vitality. The heart governs all emotions so the blood requires emotional stability.
The heart pumps the blood which the liver stores creating a mother-child relationship. When looking at the respective nature elements; wood (liver) nourishes the fire (heart). Heart Qi promotes the movement of blood (via the vessels) therefore controlling the body’s circulation. The free-flow (uninhibited circulation of Qi and blood) of blood inturn moistens and nourishes our organs, bowels and bones. If the liver does not engender the blood, the liver has little to store resulting in the heart (and entire body) being compromised.
