WHY ORGANIC
The majority of the world’s tea is grown using high levels of pesticides and non-organic fertilisers. By consuming these harmful chemicals it defeats the reasons why we drink green tea. This is why the High Mountain Tea Co. only sells organic green tea certified by IMO (Institute of Market Ecology) of Switzerland.
Organic farming stops the systematic destruction of ecosystems and improves the health of the very people who tend to the crops. The use of toxic chemicals is done away with and natural products such as compost and organic matter provide beneficial soil fertility. With a high count of earthworms and soil microbes, living soil allows far higher crop yields per unit of energy and fertiliser than conventional means. Organic cultivation allows local wildlife to flourish including wild plants, animals and birds.
With green tea, not only is the importance of the soil and water paramount but also the air. The purest air is found at higher altitudes- where our tea is grown and processed.
