When late summer (earth) arrives, there is a major transformation in seasonal energy. We move from the yang nature of summer towards the yin of winter. As a result, a prospect arises to cultivate stability (being centred, balanced) within. By adjusting the diet at this time of change we can be more grounded (earthed) to deal with the energetic contraction of autumn and winter.
Some nourishing Foods for the spleen and stomach are carrots, rice, barley, squash, pumpkin, parsnips, apples, ginger, garlic and cardamom seeds. Bland foods such as rice, potato’s, yams and yellow capsicums are also beneficial.
